Dry organic co-cultivation of vines and pharmaceutical plants
Cultivation Philosophy
At an altitude of 650-700 meters near the city of Kozani are the vineyards of the winery.Cultivation is based on the principles of organic farming. The tradition was an inspiration for choosing long planting distances, bowl/cup shaping and dry farming. Long planting distances allow the cultivation of other plants and provide enough space to grow the vineyard roots without competition. Cup shaping allows the plant to be illuminated and ventilated, thus favoring grape maturation and disease protection. Similar benefits arise from dry farming. Consequence of the above is the minimization of the applied sprayings (depending on the weather 2 or a maximum of 3 sprayings are applied)

Grape Varieties
The main variety that is cultivated is Moscomavro, a local red variety, not widespread but with great dynamics. It can be used for a wide range of wines such as red, rosé, white, sweet and raisins. The cultivation is carried out in limestone soils.
Co-cultivation
Monoculture, although it allows mechanization of agricultural work, is not a natural way of cultivation. With monoculture, the balance between beneficial and non-beneficial microorganisms present in the natural environment is disturbed. In our vineyards co-cultivation of grapes and medicinal plants is carried out. Native medicinal plants of Hypericum perforatum are protected during agriculture works. In other corridors between the vines, oregano and sideritis have been planted. Roses of Rosa Damascena are planted along the vine rows. Wild roses (variety Rosa Canina) are protected around the vineyards. Roses, besides attracting beneficial insects, can be used as warning signs for the spread of diseases.
